What this category needs, and what we do

Pieces that look the same in the hand
Look-alike SKUs are stored in separate bins, never mixed, and every pick is scanned against the order before it goes in the box.
High value in a small box
Set a signature-required threshold, for example orders over $200, and we ship those signature-required. Rules like this are mapped into the WMS during onboarding.
A deep catalog in a small footprint
Storage is billed on the cubic feet you use, $0.65 per cubic foot per month as an estimate. A deep jewelry catalog takes little space, and you pay for that space, not for a pallet position.
Sales that land without warning
Nominal’s last-minute sale: 10,000+ orders in one weekend, every order within SLA, no surcharge on handling or storage.
Cutoff and SLA
Orders in by 12pm ET ship the same business day. Later orders ship the next business day, two to three in peak.
Gift-ready presentation
Pouches, boxes, cards, and gift notes packed to your spec. Standing kits are set up once in the WMS and picked like any SKU.
Storage

Separate bins for look-alike SKUs.

A jewelry catalog is hundreds of pieces that differ by a chain length, a stone, or a finish. In the hand, gold-tone and gold-filled look the same. An eighteen-inch chain and a twenty-inch chain look the same. The only way to keep them straight is to never let them touch. Every SKU is received scan-to-stock into its own bin. Variants of one design are stored apart.

Small pieces are easy to miscount, so cycle counts run against the system by SKU and the dashboard shows you the same count the picker sees.

Because the units are small, the cubic feet are small. Storage is billed on the space you actually use, which for most jewelry catalogs is not much.

Picking and shipping

Scan-verified picking, and a signature when the order is worth it.

Every pick is scanned. The picker scans the bin, scans the piece, and the system confirms it matches the order line before it is packed. A wrong scan stops the pick. That is how a deep catalog of look-alikes stays inside the floor-wide pick and pack error of under 0.3%.

Packing follows your rules: pouch, box, card, and gift note by SKU or by order value. Set a signature-required threshold, for example orders over $200, and those orders ship signature-required. Tracking syncs back to your store so your customer gets the notification the way they do today, and every major carrier picks up daily.

Orders in by 12pm ET ship the same business day. Later orders ship the next business day, two to three in peak.

Sales and drops

10,000+ orders in one weekend, every one within SLA.

Jewelry sells in spikes: a drop, a holiday, a sale a following has been waiting for. Nominal called a warehouse sale at the last minute. No months-long peak plan, no labor booked weeks ahead. The sale generated more than 10,000 orders in a single weekend. Every order shipped within SLA. The handling and storage rates in the agreement held through the spike. There was no surcharge and no renegotiation.

Operators ran it, not a ticket queue. The people who run our own brands through peak ran this one, over the weekend. Every order, pick, and label was visible to the brand in real time on the same WMS while the queue burned down.

Tell us the date and the expected volume and we plan labor around it. There are no seasonal or peak surcharges on handling or storage, so the rate you see in your quote is the rate on the sale weekend.

Questions

How do you keep look-alike jewelry SKUs from getting mixed up?

Each SKU is received into its own bin, variants are never stored together, and every pick is scanned against the order before it is packed. A wrong scan stops the pick.

Can you require a signature on high-value orders?

Yes. Set a threshold, for example orders over $200, and we ship those signature-required. Shipping rules like this are mapped into the WMS during onboarding.

What happens when I run a sale?

We staff for it and ship it. Nominal’s last-minute warehouse sale put 10,000+ orders on the floor in one weekend and every order shipped within SLA, with no surcharge on handling or storage. Tell us the date and the expected volume and we plan labor around it.
